What is Desktop DJ?
Desktop DJ is an online music search,discovery and streaming service containing not only every UK Top 40 Hit single since the charts began in 1952 and the majority of the US HOT 100 since 1954, but also hundreds of thousands more tracks from every conceivable genre. We update the library with new releases as well as catalogue tracks at an average rate of 8,000 new tracks each month. Desktop DJ is available securely and legally to any school, college or university in the UK for the purpose of assisting teachers with the education of students, offering unlimited streaming for the cost of an annual license.
How It Works
Desktop DJ can be accessed by an unlimited number of users from any internet connected PC within your IT network through IP based authentication or with a username and password for staff for lesson preparation on a home PC. Once online you can search tracks by name, artist, album or release date, save playlists or imbed them in Powerpoint Presentations and stream full tracks online.

The Legal Stuff
Music licensing can be a minefield, and there is understandably confusion amongst educators about where they can source the music. Access to free online music services for use in schools is generally illegal as they have NOT secured the rights with the music licensing bodies. Spotify for example is not legally licensed for use in Education. Desktop DJ is the only fully licensed Commercial Music service to Education.
