Rebel Music: Bob Marley & Roots Reggae

The photosof Bob Marley used to illustrate this article is one of many that have never been published before.They are among 400 Kate Simon shots being published in the autumn by Genesis Publications in a new tribute to Marley - Rebel Music - Bob Marley and Roots Reggae being published by Genesis-Publications.com

In this stage shot (pictured right) Marley is singing Lively Up Yourself.

"We were in Gothenburg in Sweden during the Exodus Tour in 1977," recalls Kate Simon, "Bob always sang this number at the peak of the concert and everyone would go nuts and wouldn't stop after that. But Bob, as has been said, was more shaman than showman as he inspired people into a reverie to feel unity, power and love."

Others include relaxed day to day shots, like Bob on his bike.

"This was a simple shot - again never published before - of Bob, Tyrone and Aston 'Family Man' Barrett taking some time off during the Exodus Tour. They just got hold of some bikes and left the hotel in Copenhagen for a ride round the city."
