FAQ: Songwriting and the Internet

Q. I also need a simple and inexpensive way to get my songs to artists, management companies and publishers when I hear that they are looking for material. Can a website help with this?

A. Definitely. You probably already belong to an organisation such as the excellent Songlink International that sends you leads as to which artists, publishers, songwriters are looking for songs, compositions, lyrics, collaborators etc. You also probably noticed that more and more of the leads have email contact addresses. If you believe that you have an appropriate song, you can send an e-mail to the person and include a link that takes them directly to a sample of the song, so that they can hear it immediately. You could also include a link to a page on your website that contains a lyric sheet, a score and details of your previous successes, other material etc. There's no need to send CDs by 'snail mail' (traditional post services) unless you wish to or unless they request them. If the recipient is interested, they can press the reply button on their email program and immediately contact you. It's simple and efficient.
