We Love Homelands 2004 Review
One act that people certainly wanted to see was current chart favourites from the Big Apple, Scissor Sisters, who got the crowd jumping with their glam-rockin' new single Laura, but 'la piece de la resistance' for the Live Arena was when another sister, namely Sister Bliss, plus Maxi Jazz, LSK and their band stepped on stage for a blinding Faithless set, blending old high-octane favourites with slower-tempo numbers over bass and guitars.
"I like playing all the new stuff with Faithless, that's the most exciting," Sister Bliss told us before the performance.
Always a pleasure to see live, Faithless kicked off with Sister Bliss on the keyboard for the amazonian-sounding intro and the band had soon raised the proverbial roof of the marquee with crowd-faves like Insomniac to rapturous stadium-like applause, both at hearing those recognisable first notes and at the end of each track. It was also a great stage for Maxi's poetical activist lyrics - with the more political ones being dedicated to George Bush and Tony Blair. A few down-tempo tracks followed, with a finale of some fine tracks, including latest single, Weapons of Mass Destruction, which had the crowd begging for more. A well structured and downright blinding set from Faithless (as always).
