The Apple and the Tooth is available from 9th November 2009 on Warp and shows Bibio once again playing to his strengths by showcasing a whole variety of songs, from lush introspective music collages to beats that could be like some long forgotten dusted-off disco treasure. It would be hard to believe this was the work of one producer if it were not for the inimitable vintage imprint on his music.
As well as including 4 tracks of original new material, Bibio drafts in a whole host of pals and admirers to create this diverse collection of work. In this selection there are 8 remixes and no track is covered twice. Clark's remix doesn't fail to delight with his gleefully menacing rework of S'vive. Alongside it is a reinterpretation of Sugarette by pal Rob Lee, usually affiliated with Friendly Fires, who as electronic alter-ego Wax Stag puts a warm over coat of computer love on this track. Eskmo, a name that has recently been circulating on the dub step scene with his heavy west-coast beats, places in Dwrcan a new level of gravitas and the oft acclaimed electronic producer Lone opens a psychedelic window into All the Flowers, a track which in its lo-fi simplicity takes from the 60's folk aesthetic. Bibio himself steps up to the remix desk by presenting a fairy tale waltz version of Palm of Your Wave.
