Virgin Records release Daft Punk's compilation
'MUSIQUE VOL. 1 1993 - 2005' on April 3rd.
First they had to make the machines sing. Then they decided to forget about their faces in order to concentrate on their art. Erasing humanity from their releases, the supposed star duet went against the cult of the celebrity, deciding to zoom in on the strobe light, rather than the pop star below it.
Already challenging in Audio, they decide that wasn't enough so decided to attack the Visual as well. As a result their videos have always made an instant impact.
They enlisted some young maverick video producers to interpret their work visually. These included Michel Gondry, Spike Jonze, Seb Janiak and Roman Coppola. Later they even went as far as Japan to enlist a Manga maestro on their Interstella 5555 videos. Whilst on later videos the duo went into darker territory.
Sounds + images - that's where Daft Punk have always been at after 12 stellar years. On this compilation you'll find all their singles in no particular order, a trio of rare remixes, plus all the videos (including a new one to 'Prime Time Of Your Life).
