David Gilmour Girls - Crimson As Murder
David Gilmour Girls are Dutchmen Robin van der Kaa and Jasper Uhl. Formerly of rock band Oil, the two started David Gilmour Girls as a side project when they were not recording or touring in Europe and the States with Oil.
On their brand new single, 'Crimson As Murder', David Gilmour Girls have developed their distinctive hybrid sound without losing sight of their desire to make people dance. This time, London's own Punks Jump Up deliver a banging mix, along with a remix from electronic music veterans Paul Mogg (Psychonauts) and Xaver Naudascher.
David Gilmour Girls became their primary focus after Oil disbanded in 2004. Since then the pair have expanded from a studio outfit to playing live throughout Europe and the US, performing in New York, London, Barcelona, Paris and their native Amsterdam. They have also provided remixes for several other acts including Roxy Music, Linus Loves, Ajello and Hardrock Striker. David Gilmour Girls are currently working on their debut album for Relish, set for release in 2007.
Their first recordings as David Gilmour Girls attracted the attention of the head of Relish Records, Robi Insinna a.k.a. Headman, who subsequently signed the duo, releasing the 12" 'Crackhousewarmingparty' in 2004. NYC duo Rub N Tug - who have remixed for the Beastie Boys and Coldplay among others - delivered a remix on the duo's B side. Their follow-up 12" 'Heavy Metal Music Magazines' included a remix by Timo Kaukolampi's Motiivi Tuntematon (best known for his work on Annie's 'Anniemal' record) and was released in 2005.
