Irn Bru, The Lochness Monster and Haggis, three things which have put Scotland on the global map but forget all those for now, the only export worth mentioning here is a producer whose music will soon have every inner-drum shaking from Glasgow to Guatemala everyone, meet Grum.
Already garnering support from luminaries such as Annie Mac and Zane Lowe with his monstrous debut single, Runaway, Grum is one artist set to take dance music on only a route that artists such as Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy are familiar with. I mean who gets to be the second most blogged artist on Hype Machine, just behind Radiohead, with their first track? Its these sorts of early accolades that have got artists such as Friendly Fires, Armand Van Helden and Late of The Pier requesting his remixing talents, propelling their original choonage to electrical proportions across dancefloors everywhere.
Grums next single, the infectious and driving Sound Reaction is surely going to cause a heavy one reaction that is! Luckily we didnt mention Alexander Fleming, the Scottish inventor of penicillin in our intro because we made need his help in administering some medication when things get a little out of hand. "Watch the moving bodies, as they react to the sound" pulsates through a reverberating bass-line as the track peaks into the aural equivalent of a synthesized-rocket ready for lift off. Grum explains in more detail, "Sound Reaction is just me letting go with my music and doing something big, fun, noisy, and designed for the dancefloor. A mixture of rave and electro with a hint of disco. I'm very into 80s new wave and italo and came across this sample...it all just grew from there really".
