Layers of Sound and The Demetrios Project chat to I Like Music

MIKE: I guess it's exactly what it says on the tin. The name comes from lots of layers of different sounds and elements that are put into the mix, but it's mixed with Demetrious's fantastic songwriting and Belonda's soulful vocals over the top to bring it together into a melting pot. Having it song-based takes it to another level and makes it really stand out, I think.

ILM: So, an uplifting, soulful disco vibe?

DEMETRIOS: Yes tinged with an 80s flavour, because I'm an 80s child and very soulful; soul as in the 80s style. So song based, soulful, and definitely uplifting and inspirational. Most of the songs I've written bar Mission are mostly about life and dealing with life; finding the strength to overcome obstacles and to stay focused and to stay dreaming and continue dreaming, because life is depressing and we all need music to relate to real life. Daily life isn't always checking people out. You're working, you're travelling, you're trying to earn money, in addition to finding your ideal partner, so I think it's important to have songs about those real things that we all have to do in order to maintain our real lives, from money issues to feeling insecure or unhappy about where your life is going and Thanking You is about trusting perhaps in faith and believing in yourself, despite all the obstacles.
