Timo Maas Chats To I Like Music

Learning how to rock a party, and mastering the skills behind the decks was something Timo Maas learnt at the tender age of 13. In the years that followed he became one of the hottest DJ / producers around, making Depeche Mode deeper as they could imagine, helping Kelis to get funky in Europe and purifying Placebo. He DJ'd everywhere from Germany's Love Parade to London's Turnmills and Chicago's Karma. And last year he returned with his new project Mutatn Clan with Santos causing a stir in the underground scene. Maas speaks out about his new project, starting his own record label, and his massive debut at London's biggest festival South West Four.

ILM: Your new project with Santos - Mutant Clan has been well received, how did it come about and what do you both bring to the studio?

TM: We even live to together now here in Germany…created 2 studios, one for production and one for creativity and mixing (with Funktion1 monitoring). Loads more music to come out. I've never had such a creative situation like I'm having right now with that crazy Italian. It's a lot of fun, vibes and ideas, every day!…super…story to be continued!
