Winona - Without You / Rosebud
Without You is the debut single to be taken from Winona's album Rosebud and is one of its undisputed highlights. Sexy, sassy and totally addictive, it highlights Lucy Pullin's wonderfully emotive honeyed vocals to great effect. The release also features a remix from the mysterious Dark Horse, who reworks the song to create a superb slice of spacey electronica, as well as a brand new track, the gorgeous Rosebud.
Winona is the latest musical incarnation of multi award-winning composer and artiste Craig Armstrong. Working alongside fellow Scottish musician Scott Fraser, singers Lucy Pullin and French actress Laurence Ashley, the four-piece played live at major European festivals in 2007 with their unique blend of electronic offerings. For the recording, Armstrong and Fraser worked from an eye-watering collection of vintage synthesizers to create their widescreen, minor-key masterpieces whilst Pullin added shimmering glacial vocals and Ashley contributed her sultry charms. The end result of this labour of love is the album, Rosebud. It met with critical acclaim across the board when it was released in March 2008.
