REVIEW: Boys Noize - Kontact Me (Beataucue Remix)

Boys Noize

Taken from Power, the superb new album from Alexander Ridha, aka Boys Noize, the original version of Kontact Me centres around a darkly minimal bass line and an electronic voice repeating the lyric “come with me, do you remember?” Around this core the track slowly builds to a frantic climax smattered with flurries of electronic chirrups and swooping, distorted klaxons. Truly a monster of a track, the remix package is now out, with contributions from a host of great names, including Rynecologist and French electro duo Beataucue.

Beataucue’s treatment takes the simplicity of the original track and runs with it. The addition of a 4-4 beat sees an increased sense of urgency introduced, compounded by the combination of constant sirens and a pitch-bending effect applied to the bass line. The listener is transported to a dystopic future of endless machinery, where the repetition of “come with me” becomes an ominous command.
