Australian rockers Dangerous! are one of the newest signings to the legendary rock label Epitaph. They recently introduced themselves to the world at large with their debut single Not One Of You, a raw blast of MC5 via The Hives garage-rock with an extra dash of anarchic punk à la The Computers thrown in for good measure. Now they’re back with new single Movers N Shakers, ready to show us that there’s more to them than some raucous riffs and a caustic vocal.
Which isn’t to say that those elements are gone. Movers N Shakers opens with just such a combination; a sandpaper-rough yelp, the purposeful scratch and chime of guitars and a huge beat to boot. But rather than bursting into another two and a half-minute carnival of punk-rock chaos, Movers N Shakers flits between this opening salvo and a rousing, melody-driven chorus that brings to mind Funeral Party as much as it does Dangerous!’s fellow countrymen The Vines. There are even synths present, albeit in a minimal capacity.
Teenage Rampage, their debut album, has been recorded and produced by Ulrich Wild - whose work includes Pantera’s Great Southern Trend Kill, Deftones’ first three albums, and Bleeding Through’s This Is Love, This Is Murderous - and is ready for release on September 19th, and on the evidence of their first two singles it should be one hell of a ride.
