2011 has been all about Jessie J. Brought to the attention of the wider world towards the end of last year, her debut single Do It Like A Dude shot up the charts to number two at the beginning of January, and now her second single, Price Tag, has flown in at number one. As career progressions go - we’re sure you’ll agree - that isn’t bad.
Her huge talent seems undeniable to us, but in case there are any cynics out there grumbling about the conveyer-belt of manufactured pop princesses being pumped out by the music industry, take a look at the above video. Appearing on Jools Holland’s BBC Two show in late 2010, Jessie performed her current single Price Tag with nothing but an acoustic guitar for accompaniment. Not only does it allow the breathtaking power and range of her voice to be witnessed unadorned, her natural charisma shines through in her playful delivery and crowd-interaction.
Jessie J’s debut album, Who You Are, is released on February 28th, and I Like Music are celebrating by doing something very special with the new star. Keep your eyes peeled folks…
