REVIEW: LOGO - Junocide

LOGO

Logo are Thomas and Hughes. They’re both 23, they met about a year ago, they’ve only actually seen each other a couple of times and they compose and play the majority of Logo’s music together online. They weren’t bothered about making it big either. They were just happy fiddling with rhythms and creating sounds from twiddling knobs in their bedrooms.... Then the web navigator of tremendously cool Parisian electronic label Kitsune stumbled across their myspace page, and the rest falls very simply in line with the web-based musical pipe dream we have all come to know off by heart....band-meets-myspace-meets-record-deal.

Like the considerate younger brother of French electronic duo forefathers Daft Punk, Logo create smashy electro with a sparse, contemplative edge. Junocide places industrial, metallic tweaks across a driving roll, pushed into dance floor territory with futuristic synth lines and a mind bending wash of echo that allows the track to spiral with depth. Though simple and characteristically stylish for French electro, there’s an energy that suggests more to come from the young twosome.

The band’s first EP is La Vie Moderne, released on Kitsune. Featuring two tracks in original and auto-remix version, the digital version of the EP contains remixes by Danton Eeprom, DyE, Gohan and French Fries.
