Ah free downloads. How they have changed our lives, even better when actually endorsed and positively encouraged by the band as a chance to experience their music (we’re not exactly fans of the illegal downloading thing here at I Like Music – we want our favourite musicians to be able to eat dinner...) And, all hail our favourite free download this week – as My Passion give away Seven Birds prior to the release of their new album Inside The Machine.
Seven Birds is a rollicking slice of riff heavy electro-screamo which sees the Kerrang! cover stars fine tune a sound that has been criticised in the past for an over-analytical approach by the band themselves; balancing an electronic sensibility within guitar based harcdcore is always a difficult task and something bands such as Enter Shikari deserve credit for as they continue to progress the sound.
As a result there is an element of familiarity in Seven Birds, with leanings toward the style of aforementioned Shikari, as the free download prior to album drop, who knows what we can expect from the full package...however, as a single, we’re turning it up.
