Happy Pancake Day! The Tuesday in the seventh week before Easter, pancake day (or Shrove Tuesday) is the day before Lent - traditionally a 40 day fast. Pancakes found their way into Shrove Tuesday as they were a useful way to use up food before the fast...

Now that we've got the facts out the way, let's focus on the pancakes. The classic ingrediants for pancakes are: 100g plain flour - A pinch of salt - 1 large egg - 300ml milk - a topping of your choice.

I decided to do a bit of pancake based musical "research". Coming in at roughly 20 minutes (enough time to whip up a batch of tasty circular treats), I present to you: Pancakes for your sound system. Ska, hip hop, reggae, dub and a well known party jam. I went for banana as my topping, feel free to add your musical toppings in the comments below.

Seven Letters - Flour Dumpling
Note: Hold the dumplings, just add the flour.

Salt 'N' Pepa - Whatta Man ft En Vogue
OH! Classic SnP.

A Tribe Called Quest - Ham 'N' Eggs
Ho! A tisket, a tasket, what's in mama's basket?

Prince Fatty ft Hollie Cook - Milk & Honey
Such a smooth hook up...

Junior Reid - Banana Boat Man
Bananas. A classic topping. Your musical toppings are welcomed in the comments below...
