Riz MC is a rather talented man. For a start, he's not just an MC. He's also a pretty darned good actor, having recently taken the lead role in the debut feature film by Chris Morris, Four Lions. He's won countless acting awards and his stage roles include a starring slot in the Asian Dub Foundation opera Gadaffi, where he played a psychotic serial-killer-turned-born-again-Christian....
His satirical rap track Post 9/11 Blues was banned from airplay when it was released in 2006, lyrics included "No need for Halloween, 911s more scary, Osama Bin Goblin eats kids and he's hairy..."
2007 saw Riz MC earn a place on the coveted BBC Intro and attention and live slots followed including Glastonbury and the BBC Electric Proms. He opened for Massive Attack at London's Meltdown Festival in 2008 and went on to be appointed as Emerging Artist in Residence at the Southbank Centre. He also co-founded the Oxford based night Hit & Run, which has since moved to Manchester and become one of the city's leading underground events.
All of this, and Riz still hasn't released his debut artist album. In 2011, that's set to change. Get On It is the latest single to be previewed from his full LP MICroscope. Shocasing forward thinking production through deep dub rolls and layered vocals with echoes of soul, we're pretty excited about the future.
