Introducing London raised, Brighton School of Music trained Ruby Goe, who has been honing her talent singing backing vocals for Angie Stone and Mario and landing support slots with Black Eyed Peas... Following a well recieved, just-under-the-radar debut Built This House, Ruby brings forth Beat Breakin' Boy, created one afternoon in London with the DJs from Black Eyed Peas - DJ Ammo and DJ Poet. Ruby says of the occasion, “We loved it instantly, so much that at 8.00pm that night I found myself singing the track in front of 20,000 people, including Tom Cruise, at the London 02 Arena supporting The Black Eyed Peas!”
Does the track live up to the size of its debut presentation? It most certainly does. And does Tom Cruise's apparent love of The Black Eyed Peas suprise us? It certainly doesn't...
Beat Breakin' Boy leans heavily upon the building blocks of UK urban; with a thick smudge of gritty bass underpinning harmonised vocals. As a result, slick production and repetitive synth fail to take the limelight - the track is big but isn't smothered in the mainstream commercial slurry of recent vocoder driven, electro meets hip hop from across the seas *coughmumble-like black eyed peas-coughmumble*...
With a debut album on the way, you can currently find Ruby on Brighton breaks duo Stanton Warriors' album, appearing on four tracks following her performance with them in Glastonbury’s Dance tent earlier in 2010.
