The original version of Stayin’ Busy belongs to one of New Jersey’s most exciting and hardest-working young emcees: Silent Knight. Part of his forthcoming solo album Busy Is My Best Friend, the track was produced by The Audible Doctor (Brown Bag AllStars), who flipped Feist’s track Limit To Your Love to make a hard-hitting, deep groove that is highly addictive.
But with The Audible Doctor’s own EP - You Should Buy Music Not Make It - also on the way later this year, the New York producer has decided to include a remixed version of his and Silent Knight’s tune. This time around he has turned his attention to James Blake’s cover of Limit To Your Love, using that version instead of Feist’s to construct the groove. The difference in atmosphere is remarkable, the bright, open feel of Feist’s original replaced by the more fragile, introverted mood of Blake’s.
Joining Silent Knight on the mic are The Audible Doctor and four other underground emcees that he has hand-picked; KON, Rasheed Chappell, YC The Cynic and Soul Khan. All six emcees leave their stamp on the track despite only having around twenty seconds in the spotlight, each one possessed of a flow both subtle and supple.
