Orlando Higginbottom, a.k.a. Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs (or TEED to those pressed for time), may have started out life making music whose natural home was the dark and sweaty underground clubs of London’s bass scene, but that doesn’t mean he can’t write a damn good pop tune. Alongside dutty bass, wild beeps and huge beats his second EP – All In Two Sixty Dancehalls – included the beautifully understated Garden, an electro-pop duet between TEED and Luisa of Lulu & The Lampshades about love gone wrong.
With his debut album just around the corner, TEED has unveiled the new single Trouble, proving that Garden wasn’t just a one-off and he does indeed have a gift for penning heartrendingly mournful but irresistibly danceable tunes. Hazy synths and a bouncing electro beat get your head nodding uncontrollably as TEED begs his girl to forgive him his mistakes in a small, meek tone. He sounds impossibly sad as he sings the line “you make me happy” over sunny, timpani-recalling bleeps, and the apparent car-crash of emotions is baffling but brilliant.
Take note; if this is indicative of the album as a whole it’s going to be epic.
