Sharleen Spiteri: ilikemusic because... it takes me to places that life can'tThree years ago, four young men with a passion for music, found each other on Facebook and decided to form a classical Boyband. After capturing the imagination of the music industry and public alike, the boys toured the world, performed for royalty, and defined the genre that became classical crossover. Blake-mania had begun.
Three years later, in July 2009, the four piece classical Boyband Blake announced the formation of Blake Records. The first classical act to go down the independent with full creative control, Stephen, Ollie, Jules and Barney are now taking their unique international operatic vocal group well and truly to the next level.
Since capturing the hearts of millions of fans around the world with their unique arrangements of romantic popular music, Blake now unveil their highly anticipated third album, Together, available now.
Produced by industry veteran, Nick Patrick, who has worked with Katherine Jenkins, Hayley Westenra and Blake's debut self titled album, the new record is a mixture of classical standards, and new arrangements of popular repertoire of the past forty years, including U2's With Or Without You, Paul Simon's Bridge Over Troubled Water, Elvis Costello's She, as well as the Denise Riche track, Unsung Hero, written specifically for the boys.
In a year that has seen Blake triumph at Wimbledon (at the grand opening of the historic new roof), to performing at the Melbourne Cup in Australia, touring the UK with soprano Natasha Marsh, the boys with their svelte look and four of the most exceptional voices in the World, will also launch their assault in America later this year, at a very special gala show in New York.
