Anyone knocking around Hampshire midway through the last decade might well have come across two highly promising young bands, Arthur and Elle Milano. While the latter gained some degree of success with their debut album, Acres Of Dead Space Cadets, both were eventually forced to call it a day before making any real headway. As is so often the case with grassroots bands, it wasn’t a lack of talent that saw them pack it in, but rather the draining economic strain that comes with the territory.
It therefore comes as heartening news to hear that Hannah Clark and Adam Crisp, lead singers of Arthur and Elle Milano respectively, have musical life left in them yet. Clark has reinvented herself as FOE, and with Crisp - now writing, performing and remixing as Entrepreneurs - on production duties, she has come up with a batch of seriously addictive but delightfully twisted indie-pop tunes. Her debut EP, Hot New Trash, is out on Stella Mortos now, and it just goes to show that you can’t keep a good talent down.
