Five O’Clock Heroes and Agyness Dean by Sacha Whitmarsh

Speak Your Language will be out on the band's own label Glaze Records on 30th June. I wonder whether the pros of having your own label are outweighed by the cons. "You don't know what you're doing when you first start. We showcased for every single label; 16 labels, independent and majors, and they all turned us down. And I remember just sitting around just thinking 'I know we have an audience' because we were playing to full rooms in New York and I thought it's just because of what's going on in the music industry now. It was all keyboards and we were a rock & roll 4-piece band so I had the name Glaze Records and I thought let's try it and we pressed up an EP called Head Games. Then we were lucky because our booking agent really liked us in England and they put us together with two bands The Rakes and The Paddingtons and we had our first little tour and released a single around that called Time On My Hands. But we borrowed money. I basically sold my Nissan Micra and I sold it for £2,600 and I borrowed another £2,400 on a credit card. And I blew it in about 2 weeks on manufacturing and distributing and paying a publicist. But we'd started and that was it!"
