Mattafix - Things Have Changed Single and Rhythm and Hymns Album
Late last year the guys lent their support to the Darfur crisis by recording the charity single 'Living Darfur'. Ilikemusic caught up with Marlon from Mattafix just after the release of this single, to chat about filming the video in a war zone, the people of Darfur, and what can be done to help them.
ILM: Living Darfur - The video for the single was filmed in a war zone in the refugee camps on the Chad/Darfur border where over 200,000 people have been killed over the last four years. How did doing the video feel - must've been such mixed emotions (of doing something worthwhile but feeling sad too?)
MARLON: We recorded the song in Johannesburg, South Africa but filmed the video in the war zone. And filming was an intense experience; it was three days on the ground in a few refugee camps close to the border with Darfur and Eastern Chad and that brought up all the nightmares logistically filming a music video in a place that's that unstable. But also, I got to see for myself the facts and figures personified. As a result, I came back with more conviction of my commitment to the struggle.
