paul skinbak: ilikemusic because... its very sexy Oxfam is aiming to stage 2,500 concerts across Britain in October in what describes as the country's largest music festival. The Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand and Goldfrapp are among those expected to feature in the month-long OXJAM festival.
So far, 650 Oxjam events have been organised by members of the public.
"Big or small, it doesn't matter," said Kaiser Chiefs lead singer Ricky Wilson. "Please sign up and make a noise."
"We are playing lots of big festivals across Europe this summer but Oxjam is different," said Goldfrapp's Alison Goldfrapp.
"Anyone can join in and help make poverty history through making good noise."
"We have the support of the music industry and some of the best acts around today," said Oxfam's Gareth Simpson.
"Now we need people to register to take part to help make it a massive success."
