1992
Seven years after first forming the Stereo MC's released their third album, Connected, which has become, perhaps, their most well known album to date. From it came the singles Connected, Step It Up, Creation and Ground Level. The album won them Brit Awards in 1992 for Best Group and Best Album and established them as firm players in the 90's scene.

1993
Connected was nominated for a Mercury Music prize. Fellow contenders included New Order - Republic and PJ Harvey - Rid Of Me, along with the years winners - Suede and their self titled debut.

2000
Rob and Nick took a well deserved hiatus from recording original material as the dust settled on Connected. They busied themselves with DJing, their Gee Street label and remix work, keen not to repeat themselves. They released DJ-Kicks: Stereo MCs as part of the DJ-Kicks series run by independent record label !K7 Records. The mix includes tracks by Ultramagnetic MCs, The Associates and Red Snapper.
