Stereo MCs Timeline

2001
Their fourth studio album, Deep Down & Dirty was released. A collision of filth and funk that was delivered to a weight of expectation which had, understandably, played heavily on their creative process. 'After we made the Connected album we were kind of burnt out. There was so much pressure on us to make another record, to maximise on the success of the previous one. It made us actually implode and we found it nearly impossible to make another record. We were in the studio for nearly a year and we didn't even finish one track. We just shouldn't have been there. But everybody wanted us to make a record.'

2003
Retroactive was released, a 'best of' compilation album which covered a selection of material from the previous albums including the top 20 UK hits Connected, Step It Up, Ground Level and Creation.

2005
Paradise, their fifth studio album was released on their own label, now titled Graffiti Recordings. Arriving on the scene shortly after Deep Down and Dirty it announced the return of the Stereo MCs in terms of drive and creativity. The Stereo MCs have often been described as the best live dance act in the world. In 2005 this didn't go un-noticed as they were awarded a gold star performance in Time Out's 2005 Glastonbury review with the other gold stars garnished by the high and mighty of musical monarchy - Coldplay, Kaiser Chiefs and Razorlight.
