Wendy James Biography

One night Wendy and a girlfriend were in Brighton, they walked into a bar and there in front of them stood Nick Christian Sayer . skinny, glam, pure Keith Richards. He was carrying the new Suicide album under his arm and a bottle of amyl nitrate and said 'Hey, I know a really great party . you should come and check out this album . have some of this .' Nick said to 'Wendy I'm looking for a singer' Wendy said 'I'm a singer . I'll call you'. Two days later she called Nick and went back into Brighton and they formed Transvision Vamp.

Wendy only checked into college to sit her exams . her life was making the album demo with Nick, it took maybe a year and a half getting the songs together then move to London.

The only person they could crash with was one of Nick's old friends who lived in Ladbroke Grove, West London. It was the time of the Embassy club and Bodymap clothes. Leigh Bowery reigned over the club scene and something was happening in music, underground. Wendy and Nick met the guys from Sigue Sigue Sputnik and Big Audio Dynamite. They were also listening to Suicide, the Cramps and Giorgio Moroders' music production . Blade Runner made the vibe.
