Music is the perfect thing, it makes you feel good, it makes you feel sad, it makes you feel happy, what else is there?France's premier summer music festival La Route Du Rock will take place this coming August 14-16th. Initial confirmations point to a characteristically creative international lineup, including shoegaze pioneers My Bloody Valentine alongside the recently made-over Horrors, NYC's Telepathe, US post-rock legends Tortoise, London rock 'n' roll band The Kills and Berlin elecroclash queen Peaches.
Held in and around the beautiful walled seaside city of St. Malo in Brittany, La Route Du Rock has seen headline sets from Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins, Sigur Ros, Foals, Breeders, Mogwai, The National and Tindersticks in recent years, and always has a great supporting bill of up-and-coming bands from around Europe. With a beach stage in the daytime and a spectacular castle stage by night, La Route Du Rock mixes amazing lineups with a truly stunning setting.
Over it's nineteen years, La Route Du Rock has become known for specialized and daring line-ups, harmoniously combining recognized artists and new talents who, each year, enable music lovers to discover creations from all corners of contemporary music.
Thirty bands will perform in three amazing venues on the glorious Emerald Coast:
Beach StageThe days begin with concerts and downtempo mixes on one of the most beautiful beaches in Saint-Malo.
Casino StageEvening shows take place at the Palais du Grand Large on the seafront, in a cosy venue for a memorable occasion.
Castle StageThe nights step up a gear at the spectacular Fort de Saint-Père, an 18th Century Vauban castle.
St. Malo is easily accessible by Condor Ferries, from Poole on the south coast - with discounts available for festival goers.
