Moor Music Festival 2009

The 5th Moor Music Festival hops over the moor to an even more stunning location near Skipton, North Yorkshire on 6, 7 and 8 August. Magical escapism to suit all ages and pockets, Moor Music Festival aims to capture imaginations with plenty of sights, sounds and tastes to delight all the senses.

Small but perfectly proportioned, this authentic, independent festival mixes things up with an eclectic selection of musical and visual talent combined with wild and wonderful activities to suit any mood or curiosity. The full line up is yet to be revealed but already billed for Friday night is 'King Creosote', to loosen up the crowd with his winsome melodies as he headlines the Earl Hickey Lounge whilst 'Jamie Finlay (live)', a favourite of the prolific Mr Scruff, plays the Homespun tent. Saturday has 'Wild Beasts' invading the moors with their exhilarating untamed sound along with magnificent new vanguard for UK Hip Hop, 'SWAY' and ones to watch 'Pulled Apart By Horses'.

All these acts are just a taste of what's in store and a testimony to the festival's history of showcasing the very best in local and regional talent, now notorious for hosting a range of genres from folk, reggae, dub, funk, jungle, blues and more. Amongst Moor Music Festival's back catalogue there lies the guitar wielding 'Pigeon Detectives,' legendary house DJ/producer/remixer Paul Woolford and the beautiful classical undertones of the 'Grammatics'. Forward Russia chose Moor Music Festival to be their one and only festival gig of 2008. Guitarist Whiskas commented 'I really like the variety that they have going on and I like that it's locally-centric, but not locally- obsessed. They have a good balance of bands'.
