Isle Of Wight Festival Review 2008
This year at ilikemusic we have gone festival crazy! Our summer officially began at the Isle of Wight Festival 2008 and so, it seemed, did the summers of 70,000 people. With not a drop of rain all weekend, the festival site sported bandanas, shorts, summer dresses, ray bans and tanned legs galore.
This year, as well as the acts performing on the main stage, the site was able to show off its latest addition - the Big Top Tent. A whole host of artists graced the smaller sibling of the IOW festival, with stand out performances from New Young Pony Club, The Music and Feeder. A particular highlight of mine, and that of my fellow reviewer, was The Australian Pink Floyd. Proving themselves as far more than just a normal tribute band, they expertly strung together a fantastic showcase of Pink Floyd's greatest hits. The band formed in 1988 and in 1996 played at David Gilmour's 50th birthday party (is there a better compliment for a tribute band?) - a tight, slick, high calibre performance in the Big Top Tent, a great new addition to the IOW set up.
