¡Hola a todo el mundo!
That's our name. It means “hello to all the world”. We took it from a Walt Whitman poem:
O TAKE my hand, Walt Whitman!
Such gliding wonders! such sights and sounds!
Such join’d unended links, each hook’d to the next!
Each answering all—each sharing the earth with all.
Definitely, it is a shiny name. It represents light, form, creativity... One day we found our acronym by chance. It was HATEM... hate them!
And God divided the light from the darkness (Genesis 2:3)
It was a fate's lesson. Because darkness, void or destruction are close behind light, form or creativity. And that's what we are. Where we all live. Between light and shadows. And where our music and inspiration come from.
We recently released our new album Ultraviolet Catastrophe based on Roy Tiger Milton's tragic poem with the same title. It talks about his struggle to evade from this fictitious reality. We wanted to compose a nostalgic, melancholic and sentimental album. But we think it is not that dramatic in the end. Probably because there's such a beautiful light in our city, Madrid...

I've chosen this song but I could have chosen any other song from this album. I think it's a masterpiece. It represents harmony in all ways. Literally; a pleasing combination of elements in a whole. And it's a masterpiece because it teaches us so many things about music, feelings and emotions. And a way to find and celebrate this music, feelings and the emotions in us. Also I love songs about love. In all forms. In joy. In sorrow. Blessing or cursing. I believe it's always worth talking about it. No matter how many times we've done so before. It's our duty.
Nobody can describe what music makes us feel. And that's fantastic. The only thing we can do is listen to the same song or the same album over and over again and feel all those feelings again. I don't know how many times I've listened to this album. A lot, believe me. I've imagined myself playing that guitar and singing. I've thought about nothing while listening, just playing and singing in my mind. Feeling something I won't be able to describe. I've been a member of Dinosaur Jr. This album is mine and I just feel gratitude for that.
First of all I've chosen this video because I love this band. They're one of my favorite bands in Spain. Their first album is really good. And besides, I love the way they use all that vintage/analog stuff. The song and the video are awesome. I really like this production company; Canada. We worked with them in our first video and it was an amazing experience. They've got really good taste and a lot of good ideas. I also believe this video is a good example of cool things that are happening in Spain.
