McFly

Sixteen singles, five top ten albums, millions of record sales and reams of adoring fans... Danny, Dougie, Harry and Tom aka McFly have arrived to sweep I Like Music with their Guest Edit of the site, which was conducted via an interview a couple of weeks ago at the Habbo Hotel offices. Enjoy :)

Track (s)
Artist: Blink 182 Track: All of This Released: November 2003 Label: Geffen
Artist: Bon Iver Track: Blood Bank Released: 20th Jan 2009 Label: Jagjaguwar

Danny: Shine A Light is my track of the week! Haha!

Dougie: Haha! Our own song!

Dougie: I listen to them all the time anyway, BUT...Blink are back together! So...I listened to their old album loads. One song that I used to just love was a song called All Of This with Roberth Smith from The Cure singing on it. I think maybe it's because I'm a bit older now, but it's still just absolutely...woah. It has this break down bridge kind of thing. It's such a simple piece of music. There's just two guitars, no bass in it, a tiny bit of percussion and some weird synthy thing going on in the background. I almost cried when I heard it in the car last week...

Danny: I always fall asleep to Bon Iver Bloodbank...that's a good one. I just find him so relaxing. It takes me to a different place where I can just completely chill out. His melodies are amazing. There's just that something about him.

Album
Artist: John Butler Trio Album: April Uprising Released: March 2010

Danny: Every now and again when we're on the road, or I'm driving a long distance I'll put together a mixtape and I'll stick a bit of Bruce Springsteen on it because it's just like OH YEAH! It always gets me in the mood! Haha! But do you know what? I've lost my iPod! So I'm using my iPhone for music. I'm having to put that on shuffle, but it has my dictaphone recordings on there too, and shuffles those in, which is VERY annoying! I'll have my silly little voice come up going 'da da da duh duh..'

But, for album of the week....I just bought the new John Butler Trio album! And I'm loving that! I've been listening to it a lot. It's definitely my album of the week! I discovered John Butler in Australia. I listen to Dave Matthews quite a lot, but John Butler is more fun, more sort of...accoustic with a lot of sliding. Plus his band are really funky!

I saw them live in Sydney a few years ago and became a huge fan. I love their new album and the first single was a real grower for me. I love how they do the unexpected but still manage to give us fans what we want. Favourite band of the moment!
