Death Row Presents... A Hip Hop History

In 1992 Marion 'Suge' Knight founded the controversial and seminal Death Row Records with former NWA member Dr Dre. The first record to be released on the new label was Dre's The Chronic. The album went on to be one of the most important records on the 1990s and established the G-Funk sound of West Coast gangsta rap.
Death Row, launched gangster rap into the mainstream in the 90s.

A cross between smooth R&B vocals, soul-funk sounds (G-funk) and hard-edged rap, the sound defined hip-hop in that decade, and this album represents some of the best tracks and artists the label signed.

From label co-founder Dr Dre to 2Pac, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z and Ashanti, Death Row was the first home to artists who are now some of the most famous in the world.

This is the first time a comprehensive collection of Death Row hits has been available.

The album is being released in two formats - a standard two CD version and a limited edition, with bonus DVD. Both versions include exclusive sleeve notes with a history of Death Row and discography of the genre-defining label. The album will also be available to download.
