simon f baker: ilikemusic because... you can transcend the confines of the material world with it, it's probably better than shagging in fact. There is virtually nothing more satisfying than when a load of chords and words suddenly come together into a song ; suddenly everything in life seems to fit and make sense once more.

The 22 year-old Canadian born artist, who grew up in Toronto and Memphis, first entered the world of entertainment as a teenager when he starred for 8 years on the hit teen show Degrassi: The Next Generation. Born into a musical family, his father drummed with Jerry Lee Lewis, and his uncle is the legendary bass player Larry Graham, Drake released his first mixtape, Room For Improvement, in 2006. His second, Comeback Season followed a year later but it was the release earlier this year of So Far Gone, widely considered one of the best albums of 2009 even though it's only a mixtape, that really catapulted Drake to the forefront of the US music scene. Drake first appeared with Lil Wayne on 2007's Man Of The Year" while Every Girl, his hit single with Young Money, reached #3 on the Billboard Charts. In fact Drake is only the second artist to have his first two singles reach the top 10 in the same week. Since his meteoric rise, the artist also known as Drizzy, has worked with many of the hottest artists in the game including Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye West, and Mary J. Blige amongst others.
His recent wildly received appearances on the summer US Young Money Presents: America's Most Wanted Festival, ended abruptly and painfully when following a nasty fall, Drake had to undergo knee surgery. In June 2009, after a feverish bidding war, Drake signed with Lil Wayne's Young Money Records and is in the beginning stages of recording his hugely anticipated debut album Thank Me Later. page << 1 2 >>
