Flobots Chat To ilikemusic
Flobots are a six piece band hailing from Denver Colorado, fronted by two MCs - Jonny 5 and Brer Rabbit, they blend quick fire lyrics and intelligent rhymes with erratic time signatures, strings and bass line jams, intertwined with an eb and flow that is both refreshing and captivating. Their debut album Fight With Tools addresses current issues, both social and political. The band recently performed alongside Rage Against The Machine in Denver during the Democratic National Convention for an anti-war festival. Encouraging change in their own country thorugh dialogue and an active pursuit for information, they have a thriving web community. They are also represeneted by 60 Flobot street teams working on the streets of the US to convey their message. In January they will be holding the first annual Flobots conference in their home town, inviting all those interested to come along.
ilikemusic recently caught them live at their second ever UK show at Kings College London. Their performance was full of energy, charisma and though their message for change was clear they did not let it over-power their music. The result was an excellent live performance from some incredibly talented musicians who had something worthwhile to say. We were lucky enough to chat to guitarist Andy Guerrero about their work as musicians and activists and their debut album Fight With Tools.
