ILM: Are you looking forward to having Mark Ronson as your support artist?
Jay-Z : Yeah. Mark was a guy… I dunno, me and Puffy were really riling over who really discovered him, you know! I used to hire him as a DJ to do all my early parties and he had this incredible knowledge of music. It was really weird to me. How much he'd know about underground hip hop. From hip hop to rock and pop and, you know, he has such a vast knowledge of music! I was always blown away by the records he played and how he'd mix these… the coaches together. Right now, it's normal, there are thousands of DJ's and they do it all the time. They'll put an AC/DC beat on under 99 Problems, but he was doing that 15 years ago. So it was, it was shocking. Just like… "How did he put in that?" He had this incredible knowledge. Just to watch his growth as a producer, it's natural. I shoulda seen that a long time ago. So… I guess we're pretty good friends and we're gonna do a lot of work together.
