Jurassic 5 Live @ Southampton Guildhall

September 28th 2006

From the first rap ever rapped and the first hip hop beat ever crafted, hip hop has evolved. These days there's all kinds of hip hop. There's old school hip hop, new school hip hop, turntablism, crunk, g-funk, Gangsta rap, acid rap and political hip hop. Perhaps Jurassic 5 are a blend of many of these styles, but they are known as alternative hip hop artists and they certainly deliver the unexpected live!

Out on tour to support their electric Feedback album and new single, Work It Out, Jurassic 5 support came from the extraordinary turntablist and DMC champ, Blakey. He impressed the crowd with his incredible skills and warmed us up, ready for the main event - a dramatical, unique and exhilerating journey in hip hop, courtesy of Jurassic 5... Southampton Guildhall was ready!

Feedback is a real tour de force for the LA six piece, showcasing not only the vocal diversity of the four emcees Chali 2Na, Akil, Marc 7 and Zaakir, but also the breathtaking use of beats and samples driven by DJ/producer Nu-Mark. The J5 boys certainly know how to put on a show, but it has to be said that Chali 2na stole it!
