Jurassic 5 Live @ Southampton Guildhall

Known for their no-frills ethos musical approach, tag-team delivery, and harmonizing on choruses, these boys lyrics are inventive, positive and sometimes dabbed with social commentary. There is certainly a sense of drama about Jurassic 5, simply because they put on an actual SHOW! And man... it's FUN!

A word of warning though. Do NOT heckle or throw anything at Jurassic 5. Throwing stuff at any band is pathetic and disrespectful in any case, but when some fool threw something on stage, J5 stopped playing, turned up the lights and pointed out the culprit who was told to 'Get the f*** out' which was welcomed by the rest of the crowd with a huge cheer.

Jurassic 5 raised the roof with some old favourites, plus tracks from the new album, including a Day At The Races, In the House, Where We At and End Up Like This, their unique voices and novel approach to samples really coming to the fore. Much waving of hands in the air like we just didn't care later and we were treated to a mellower moment with new single Work It Out, their collaboration with the Dave Matthews Band.

And when asked if we'd enjoyed the show, the roar was testament to their talent. Jurrasic 5 live is one of the most exciting and inventive live shows that exists. Life-affirming stuff and what a way to start the end of the week!page << 1 2 >>
