Release Date: 18th July 2005
Roll Deep, the crew that brought you Dizzee Rascal and Wiley have finally stepped out of the shadows with a debut album of their own "In At The Deep End", out on June 6th.
Their debut single "The Avenue" released on 18th July, is a ruffed up take on an eighties classic that's going to turn a few heads, ruffle a few feathers and be a monster hit this summer.
Or as Q Magazine put it "It sounds like a Hip Hop Anthem." And the Sunday Times Culture declared "A glorious cut-up of the Maisonnettes 1982 Top 10 record, Avenue screams 'summer hit single'".
"The Avenue" is unquestionably a pop anthem but Roll Deep have not forgotten their die hard grime fans on their own remix of the single. "Heartache Refix" is a dark and dirty spin off that's as grimy as it gets. Why get someone else to remix your single when you can do a better job than anyone else!
Roll Deep will be doing a headline gig at Ministry of Sound on Friday 10th June showcasing their full album for the first time.
