Screaming Soul - Warfare

Warfare is the debut single from UK super group Screaming Soul. This genre bending monster of a track is an amalgamation of styles which represent not only the group's challenging and eclectic nature, but also refers to the diverse musical melting-pot we are currently experiencing in the UK.

Screaming Soul is a collaboration between vocalist Ghetto Priest (of Asian Dub Foundation and On-U Sound) and MC/Producer Sandman (aka Doobie of Underground Alliance/UNDALI). This unlikely partnership of roots and rap is currently breaking new ground with a fresh and unrestricted approach to their music.

The single features two remixes representing both ends of the Screaming Soul musical spectrum. First up is the 'Warfare (Squatters in the Oval Office)' Dub mix from Mutant Hi-Fi (of legendary Dub/Reggae label On-U Sound). Mutant Hi-Fi has given the track a unique twist with his own "sound crash, slash and mix" style. Mixed on a 4 track analogue set-up, this remix takes listeners on a psychedelic roller-coaster ride back to the origins of dub.

The second remix sends us hurtling into the future courtesy of legendary Dubstep label Rankin Records. Producers Ruckspin and Planas have given 'Warfare' the Rankin Dubstep treatment in fine style with pounding drums and a bassline heavy enough to crumble concrete. This is available on vinyl on Rankin Records.

Screaming Soul are performing a number of gigs across the UK and will be playing a full live set at Cargo on the 25th May for the Warfare launch party. Teaming up with the Reggae Roast crew, the event also marks over thirty years of On-U sound and will feature some of the biggest names on the UK music scene, including legendary Dub producer Adrian Sherwood of On-U Sound and pioneering Dubstep producer Mala of Digital Mystikz, as well as a number of other acts representing different aspects of the Screaming Soul musical spectrum.
