The Game: 'The Documentary'
Executive producer: Dr. Dre
"The new future of hip hop" Observer Music Monthly
Since the glory days of NWA, the West Coast has been waiting for a mythical figure to emerge - a rapper worthy of walking in the footsteps of legends like Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube, Snoop...and now the wait is over. Dr. Dre has signed a new artist called The Game to his Aftermath label who is about to put the West Coast back on the map.
The Game (aka Jayceon Taylor) has a compelling story. Raised in a foster home, he started selling drugs on the street at the age of 10 and was a talented basketball player at school. But after losing two brothers, a cousin and numerous friends to gang violence, he gave up his hoop dreams and completely immersed himself in the gang way of life. Three years ago during a drug deal he took five bullets to the chest, arms and leg and woke up in hospital from a three day coma. 'It could have been fatal,' he says. 'But it wasn't so, f*ck it, I came back to terrorise hip hop." Since that moment The Game has been focussed on nothing other than hip hop in order to make his way out of the gang environment. Five months later he was signed on the strength of a mixtape track that fell into Dr. Dre's hands.

Just Jack: ilikemusic because... I can’t explain why I like music!
Kal Lavelle: ilikemusic because... it's cheaper than a therapist! ;)
Jun: ilikemusic because... music can convey a mood, enhance a mood or change a mood. Music can be used to inspire and the artform is simple yet complicated. It's fun to listen to and even more fun to create and perform. It speaks when just a simple word can't. It's a blessing!!
Jay Sean: ilikemusic because... It’s the soundtrack to my life.
Lupe Fiasco: ilikemusic because... It gives me a chance to escape and reach people I wouldn’t ordinarily be able to reach. And without music the world would be kinda quiet.
simon f baker: ilikemusic because... you can transcend the confines of the material world with it, it's probably better than shagging in fact. There is virtually nothing more satisfying than when a load of chords and words suddenly come together into a song ; suddenly everything in life seems to fit and make sense once more.
Leon Jean-Marie: ilikemusic because... It transcends. It really creates emotion with someone. That feeling it gives you, it goes through boundaries. To create something, it just breaks through all the walls. When you connect with a song, that is it, that is magic isn't it?
