Gnarls Barkley Crazy Makes Chart History

Gnarls Barkley 'Napoleon' / Gnarls Barkley Gnarls Barkley continues to head up the UK music chart with his incredibly brilliant and uber funky Crazy. The track retains the top spot for a second week, after last week, Crazy made chart history by becoming the first ever No 1 based on download sales alone.

Warner Bros. Records opted to make 'Crazy' available as a download three weeks ahead of its physical release due to phenomenal public demand following significant airplay. With consumers embracing a musical culture in which they can access digital files for portable media players immediately, this represents a progressive move that both satisfies consumer demand as well as offering a legitimate alternative to illegal downloading.

'Crazy' was released on April 3rd with the debut album 'St. Elsewhere' following on April 24th.

Gnarls, aka singer Cee-Lo Green and DJ Dangermouse, topped the hit40uk chart, selling over 31,000 copies before their CD is even released.

Crazy is an absolutely freakin' FANTASTIC track and a sure fire hit across the world - gorgeous beats with a delicious melody, soulful lyrics, all in all, Crazy is fantasticly funky. GENIUS!

Gnarls Barkley is the hotly tipped collaboration from former Goodie Mob co-founder Cee-Lo and notorious artist/producer Danger Mouse.

Having met when Cee-Lo recorded vocals for a remix of Danger Mouse & Jemini's 'What U Sittin' On?', the duo commenced work on a project that gradually evolved into a full-length album.

Cee-Lo's distinctive Southern rapping and soulful vocals graced Goodie Mob's opening two albums (1995's highly-praised debut 'Soul Food' and 1998's 'Still Standing') before he departed for a solo career. His debut solo album, 'Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections' (2002) was a wildly ambitious work of genre-challenging neo-soul. Its follow-up, 2004's 'Cee-Lo Green... Is The Soul Machine' was even more accomplished and featured collaborators such as Ludacris and The Neptunes' Pharrell Williams.

In addition, Cee-Lo has also guested on albums from Outkast and Common.

Danger Mouse is considered one of the most promising artists in music today. He produced Gorillaz's 'Demon Days' album, for which he earned a Grammy nomination for Producer of the Year. He has been honoured as one of GQ's 'Men of the Year'; named "Eccentric Genius of the Year" by SPIN; and hailed as "The Hottest Hip-Hop Producer in the World" by NME. Danger Mouse gained unprecedented notoriety after producing his infamous 'Grey Album', dubbed a 'bootleg masterpiece' by GQ, awarded Entertainment Weekly's Album of the Year and considered a watershed moment in music history.

Gnarls Barkley have their debut live dates pending this spring/summer. Full details will be announced upon confirmation.
