Hybrid Chat To ilikemusic

Mike Truman and Chris Healings are the talented minds behind the electronic duo that is Hybrid. Known primarily as a progressive breaks act Hybrid have cast their well tuned minds over many a mix, set and soundsystem alike, amassing a total of nearly 250 productions to date. No strangers to globe trotting Hybrid have performed all over the world both as DJs and as Hybrid live, currently a full seven piece band. Though no strangers to ripping up the dancefloor with bass driven electronica, Hybrid have also become known for their talent developing ambient soundscapes and film scores. They have been involved in the production of the score for Ridley Scott's Kingdom Of Heaven and the Tony Scott films, Domino and Déjà Vu and have recently completed their first solo score for Twisted Pictures newest production, Catacombs.

The latest release from Hybrid is Soundsystem 01. In this they combine two passions. Disc one includes atmospheric electronica from Trentemoller, Spooky and Vector Lovers alongside actual film score selections from big screen hits Babel, Crash and 28 Days Later. On the second disc, the pair wear their more traditional progressive/breaks hat mixing up selections from Sasha, Quivver and Elite Force with their own new material. The duo show no sign of slowing down. With dates lined up for the summer, plans for a new album and a full UK and US tour later in the year, we managed to grab some time with Mike Truman to chat about the Hybrid process of making tunes, their live set up and the music he likes.
