Hybrid Chat To ilikemusic
We are currently working on our new album so the dynamic of the band has changed a bit. We have got new people involved. It has grown and become more of a live entity in its own right. It is good at the moment actually, because we are recording the drummer, and we have done bits of it before, but this time we are starting with the live band and working backwards. So it is going to have a bit of a different feel to it.
ILM: Will that go on tour?
Mike: Oh yeah, absolutley. We have set ourselves a deadline. It's the tightest deadline we have ever had. We started two weeks ago officially, properly on the album and we want to be finished by the 1st September.
ILM: Do you guys struggle with that? With deadlines and saying 'Yes. This is finished' ?
Mike: That is the problem we have had. We have given ourselves too much rope before and it has dragged out for a year. Doing different versions of a track in a week and then realising it is not going to work later. If it is not going to work you need to just move on. It is kind of self imposed. It is good but it is more like writing with a band. We have been control freaks in the past but now we have two songwriters - Charlotte James and John Graham, two guitarists, the drummer...there are loads of people involved. There are lots of things happening. We are standing a bit further out and letting people bring things in. We are acting more like overall producers. It is really fun. We are delegating if you like.
