John Peel Tribute Single and Album
"Ever Fallen In Love" released 21st November
The cast list of contributors on "Ever Fallen In Love" reads like a perfect John Peel play list. The Futureheads, El Presidente, The Datsuns and The Soledad Brothers are also talking part - as well as the song's originator - Pete Shelley. The cover art has been created by Gordon Moakes from Bloc Party.
All the artists involved are giving their time and services for free to create a public tribute to John Peel and to raise funds and awareness for Amnesty International - which was one of John's favourite charities.
John Peel's son Tom Ravenscroft has been instrumental in the project. The idea for the single came about while he was working on a documentary about his father's record collection. The documentary - "John Peel's Record Box" - focuses on a small wooden box containing John's all time favourite singles.
"Ever Fallen In Love" by the Buzzcocks is one of the records contained in the box among a selection of 140 singles that were particularly precious and special to him. The documentary will be broadcast as part of this year's UK Music Hall of Fame season of programming on Channel 4 this November.
