How To Get Self-Confidence and Use It
"I've got a lot of really close girl friends and it is about empowering us as women, but it's also about letting us know that we are strong and can do whatever we want to do. To let each other know that we're here for each other."
"If you have a strong sisterhood around you, it can just make you grow everyday. Women who get so caught up in trying to please a man all day long, you won't get nowhere, because when he goes, those women often lose their self-confidence and have low self-esteem."
Urban sensation Alesha Dixon agrees.
"I don't like it when women look in magazines and get pleasure out of seeing people looking bad. But, do you know why they do it? It's to make themselves feel better and that goes back to that whole security thing. If you're comfortable in your own skin then you can be comfortable and happy for other people, and I think that's where it needs to start from really."
"It's about self respect and being confident in yourself and in who YOU are, y'know?
Of course, we all know that it can be difficult to stay confident in yourself if people around you knock your confidence via critical remarks or even bullying.
Amelle, the newest addition to the
Sugababes says confidence involves building up a thick skin.
"Be strong and confident and, if anyone says anything bad about you, learn you can't take it personally, because that person doesn't even know you."
"Just carry on doing what you're doing and don't take it personally, you don't even have to prove yourself. Do what you love and do what you think is the best. I know it's hard to ignore someone saying something bad about you, because it does hit a nerve in you and you do get upset, but you've got to lift your chin up and just keep going."
