Mutya Buena chats to I Like Music
ILM: There's a rawness to the album, it sounds really natural. I read it was your idea to keep the sound flawed and spontaneous, to show off the humanity, as well as the technique, of your vocals. Good call! What did you learn on this album about the process of making a great album that you'd not known before?
MUTYA: I think the main thing for me personally that I learned is that it's always best to follow your heart and do music that you really want to do. I think the worst thing to do is go to a studio and start singing or doing songs that you can't relate to. For me personally, I just think it was such a great time and at that moment it was nice to go into the studio and be able to sing what I liked. Because, I'm so used to doing something a different way and singing different types and more like the Sugababes stuff that I used to do. And now, splitting away from them, I've been able to be a bit more open and do something I'm more true to I suppose.
