Gomez - Split The Difference

Gomez released their fourth studio album, Split The Difference, on May 17, 2004.

Split the Difference arrives more than five years since Gomez's Mercury Prize-winning debut, yet finds the British five-piece working firmly within their well-worn formula. It's an album littered with direct, punchy, catchy and powerful tracks.

Gomez recorded and produced Split The Difference themselves in their own purpose built studio, in the dreary Sussex town of Portslade, only recruiting producer, Tchad Blake to help 'beef up the record and provide a rockier edge.' The result? A straightforward (in Gomez terms) rock n roll album, oozing layer upon layer of bluesy rock riffs, and trademark vocal harmonies.

Old fans will be happy to hear the same blues-tinged, three-part vocal harmonies that continue to distinguish Gomez from their peers. "Me, You and Everybody" is a laid-back singalong that's mellow without the melancholy, while "Catch Me Up" bounces along at a jaunty pace.

All in all another great one from Gomez!
